This gourmet burger is a celebration of rich, earthy flavors. Juicy, herb-seasoned beef is topped with melted swiss cheese and a luxurious creamy morel mushroom sauce. Savory and packed with umami, this burger is a true indulgence for mushroom lovers.


Serves 2
Ingredients
sesame seed buns
½ T fresh chopped sage
½ T fresh chopped rosemary
dash salt
dash pepper
2 slices of swiss cheese
¼ pound ground beef
Mushroom Sauce Ingredients
1 tablespoon butter
4 ounces rough chopped morels
¼ cup sliced vidalia onion
1 clove minced garlic
½ teaspoon grainy dijon mustard
dash Worcestershire sauce
dash salt
dash pepper
Instructions:
Prepare the mushroom topping: Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and onions. Sauté until tender and lightly browned, about 8-10 minutes. Stir in the garlic, Worcestershire and Dijon and cook for 1 more minute. Turn heat to low and mix in heavy whipping cream. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside and keep warm.
Make the burger patties: Add the ground beef, herbs, salt and pepper to a bowl. Mix until just combined. Form into 2 patties.
Cook the burgers: Heat a cast iron skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 3-5 minutes per side. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of Swiss cheese and cover to melt.
(Optional) toast burger buns
Top burgers with mushrooms to taste. Additionally spreading the sauce on your bun will allow for a more even, less drippy coverage of sauce.
Top with additional toppings like spinach if desired and enjoy while hot!
